I love to bake. I love to make tasty creations and try new techniques in my quest to be a better baker.
Alas, not everything that comes out of the oven is brilliant.
Cast your mind back to April of 2020, where a lot of places, all round the world, were in the midst of what would become the first lockdown for many.
Baking your own bread became all the rage and the internet was filled with pictures of golden, fluffy successes. So I decided to give it a try myself!
I had a fairly old-fashioned recipe book that I could use and all the ingredients, so why not? After all, they made bread at home all the time in the olden days (the book is actually from the 50’s so while not particularly ancient, it often seems older than it is), how hard could it be?
Harder than anticipated it turns out, and my sad, chewy loaf was a testament to that.
Check out the pictures below the cut and bask in the inedible inadequacy of my shame.
